J.Lo sings about life-long love on "Again." She offers a man affection and a listening ear ("The One"), and is remorseful after insensitivity costs her a relationship ("I Still"). She ponders whether a love is "right or wrong" ("I’ve Been Thinkin’") and rebukes a guy for trying to make her jealous (a remake of Carly Simon’s "You Belong to Me").
Several mild profanities. She likes "makin’ love" with a thugged-out guy ("Come Over"). "All I Have," a duet with LLCool J, finds the rapper boasting of infidelity and recalling intimate encounters. With a wink to her actor fiancé on "Dear Ben," J.Lo confesses that she can’t control her passions when they’re together ("Our bodies meet, I have to have you ... my lust, my love, my man, my child")."Baby I Love You" asks a partner, "Can you love me for a lifetime in just one night?" The singer/actress does a lot of bragging about her fame and fortune in an attempt to tell fans that it hasn’t changed her from being ol’ "Jenny From the Block." The CD’s lyric booklet includes immodest photos.
This Is Me ... Then’s biggest problem is its matter-of-fact attitude toward sex outside of marriage. Knowing that J.Lo is planning her third wedding in six years makes even the sweet love songs ring hollow.
