Mariah Carey Daydream
From Mag to Web
"One Sweet Day" looks forward to a heavenly reunion with a friend, and credits God with hearing prayer. The source is uncertain, but "I Am Free" thanks someone for redemptive love. Carey cries out in humility for a relationship to be restored (a remake of Journey's 1981 hit, "Open Arms"). She expresses a love that is longsuffering on "Always Be My Baby" and "Forever."

Nothing explicit. On "Melt Away" Mariah says, "When you talk to me in that sensual tone . . . I lose my self-control." A similar line appears on "Long Ago."

Daydream's pretty, lilting melodies don't break any new ground, but will surely satisfy fans of Carey's earlier work. The disc is mostly positive, but an even better option would be the singer's Christ-centered 1994 holiday release, Merry Christmas.
